Architecture
The temple is considered the most complex one in
architecture among surviving Hoysala monuments because of its ground plan: a
16-pointed star shaped mantapa (hall), in addition to an asymmetrical star
shaped shrine, whose star points are of three different types. The temple is a
ekakuta shrine (single shrine or cella) with two mantapas (hall), one open and
one closed. All three units are connected to form a unity. The sanctum
(garbhagriha) enshrines a linga. The ceilings of the temple are decorated.
Culture
Karnataka, the IT hub of Indian Subcontinent, like every
other destination, has its own
distinctive characteristics. The contribution of Karnataka
to the composite culture of
India is no way inferior to that of any other region of
India. Its contribution in the
fields of art, music, religion and philosophy are exemplary.
The culture of Karnataka is
so vibrant that it adds new flavor to its very existence.
Arsikere (literally means the queen's pond) is a town and taluka in the Hassan
