Shri Peetambra Peetha is a complex of Hindu temples (including an Ashram), located in the city of Datia. It is primarily a place of worship of the followers of Shakthism. The Shivlingam in the complex is believed to be of the same age as that of the Mahabharata. Shri Peetambara Peetha is one of the most famous temples of Baglamukhi Devi and was established by Shree Shri Golokwasi Swamiji Maharaj in 1920s. Currently the Peeth is maintained by a trust.

Legend

The temple was established by Shri Golokwasi Swamiji Maharaj in 1920's. He was an ardent devotee Goddess Pitambara. He stayed in Datia for a long period of time and became a spiritual icon of the place. He established the ashram and the temple.

Architecture

The complex includes the many temples as well as the ashram. Dhumavati and Baglamukhi are the two Mahavaidya temples inside the complex.  In addition to those, there are temples of Parshuram, Hanuman, Shiva Kal Bhairav and other god and goddess spread across the large area of Ashram. The shrine is a simple structure with open arches, red pyramid roof with a lotus structure on the top. The idol the Goddess is bedecked in silk and jewellery.

Culture

Datia is an ancient town, mentioned in the Mahabharata as Daityavakra. It has many places of Hindu and Jain worship as well as beautiful palaces and gardens

The aashram conducts Sanskrit classes to youngsters free of cost.

Devotees are advised to wear clean and conservative attire. Devotees wear yellow colour dress to appease the Goddess.
