The mythological legend regarding Anegudde Sri Vinayaka
temple at Kumbashi points to the the slaying of demon Kumbasura by Bheema.
Kumbasura who tried to disrupt the yajna of sage Agasthya, was vanquished by
the strongest Pandava with the blessed sword by Lord Ganesh. The stories of the
land describes a devotee, Upadhyay, who in accordance with a dream he had, went
in search of a stone in Nagachala. He found a granite stone covered in wild
flowers and started worshipping it as the deity of the lord. With the help of people
around Upadhyay built a straw hut to continue worship his God which later
turned into the temple.
This temple is part of Mukti Kshetra Darshan.
