Located In Udupi, Karnataka, Udupi Sri Krishna Matha is a temple dedicated to Lord Krishna. Udupi Sri Krishna Matha was founded by the Vaishnavite saint Shri Madhwacharya in the 13th century. It was Shri Madhwacharya who turned Udupi into a unique seat of Vedantic learning. Apart from the contributions to Vedantic philosophy, Shri Madhwacharya found the Krishna Temple of Udupi and made it the fountain-head of a new "Bhakti" (devotional) movement, which eventually spread all over the country.

Legend
There are many legends that tell of a sailor carrying the
main statue of Krishna from Dwarka. The ship is believed to have been caught in
a storm and sunk. Sri Madhavacharya had a vision and took the statue out of the
ocean and installed at the temple. Later on, in the 16th Century, a devotee
Kanakadasa wished to offer prayers to Lord Krishna but he wasn't allowed inside
the temple. Krishna, pleased by the devotee, created a hole in the back wall of
the temple, so that Kanakadasa could see the Lord. The hole came to be knows as
'Kanakana khindi'.
This temple is part of Mukti Kshetra Darshan.
Architecture
Built in accordance with the Kerala style of architecture,
Sri Krishna Temple's main door is gold plated. The door is covered with
intricate carvings on it. The idol of Lord Krishna is richly embellished. There
are multiple temples in the complex and each has major religious significance.
The temple complex consists of Deepa Stambha, Madhav Sarovara, and obviously,
the legendary Sanctorum, which has 9 holes in its walls. The unique feature of
Shree Krishna Mutt temple is that the Lord is worshipped only through a window
with nine holes called the Navagraha Kitiki. The window is exquisitely carved
and silver - plated. It has been a tradition in this temple to worship the Lord
