The Sannidhi of Sri Prasanna Krishnaswamy, Thulasivanam Sri PrasannaKrishna Swamy Temple the presiding deity along with Sri Rukmini Thayar & Aandal Thayar has been in existence prior to 1844 founded by the earlier Rulers of Mysore Empire His Excellency Nalwadi Sri Krishnaraja Wodeyar. The temple was formed by the Great Grandfather of Rao Bahadur Sri B.K. Garudachar. Later, the management of the temple was passed on to Rao Bahadur Sri B.K. Garudachar who was the Diwan of Mysore at Mysore Palace. Till the demise of Sri B.K. Garudachar i.e. till 13th June 1948, the temple was at the sole management of Sri B.K. Garudachar. After his demise, the management is in the hands of his successors who are his family members only and even today, the temple is well managed by the successors of Late Sri B.K. Garudachar.

Architecture

Prasanna Krishnaswamy Temple has an enclosure or Prakaram and Navaranga or the central pillared hall. There are more than 40 bronze statues of deities and saints in the temple which were presented by Krishnaraja Wodeyar III.

There is a minor shrine dedicated to sage Atri, the gotra-rishi of the Wodeyar dynasty inside the temple.In the inner walls of Navaranga, the murals depicting the stories of Sri Bhagavad Gita can be seen, which are considered as a fine example of 19th century Mysore painting. The idol of the main deity, Lord Krishna, worshipped in the sanctum sanctorum is made of chlorite schist. This idol, known by the name Ambegalu Krishna, is an image of young Krishna in crawling posture with a butter ball in his hand and a childish mischievous expression.

Special Rituals

Brahma Rathothsavam is held on the third day of Telugu New Year (Chaitra Shuddha Thrithiya Bharani Star) and Avabruthasnanam on Chaitra Shuddha Panchami Rohini Star.

The Ramothsavam is celebrated from Sri Rama Navami to Pattabhishekam. Srimadh Valmiki Ramayana Parayanam is chanted on all these days and Pattabhishekam is celebrated, followed by Raja Veedhi Utsavam.
