Situated at Malakonda, Prakasham district, Andhra Pradesh, Sri Malyadri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy Vari Devasthanam is a famous temple dedicated to Lord Narasimha. Here, Lord Narasimha is seen along with Goddess Mahalakshmi Devi. Sri Malyadri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy Vari Devasthanam is one of the Nava Narasimhas (Nine shrines of Lord Narasimha). The temple is open to devotees only on Saturdays.

Legend

According to the legends, one day Sri Mannarayana murthy asked Sri Maha Lakshmi if she has any wishes he will do it for her. Goddess Maha Lakshmi replied that she got Lord Vishnu as her husband and that is most the extra ordinary thing in her life. However, she said to Lord Vishnu that there are only a few Divya Kshetrams in earth and all devotees cannot visit them due to expenses. She asked the Lord to make one Divya Kshetram for devotees. Hearing this, Lord said Vanamala to make a hill on earth and Vanamala has changed as Malyadri (Malakonda).

Architecture

There are 970 steps covered with flowers and rocks to reach the hill top. There is another path which is of 2 km from the down hill to the hill Top. The path to the hill top is narrow, only auto, tractors, car and other private vehicles can pass through this path.
