Sri Ghati Subramanya Swamy Temple
Situated on the outskirts of Bangalore near Tubagere,
Doddaballapura, Shri Ghati Subramanya Swamy Temple is a famous and ancient
temple dedicated to Lord Karthikeya along with Lord Narasimha. The uniqueness
of this temple is that prime deity Lord Karthikeya, is found together with Lord
Narasimha. A huge mirror was placed in the rear in the sanctum sanctorum to
ensure that both deities are visible to devotees at the same time.

Legend
According to the legends, Ghati is the place where Lord
Subramanya performed penance in the guise of a serpent before slaying the demon
Tarakasura. When serpents asked for help to save them from their enemy, Garuda,
Lord Subrahmanya invoked Lord Narasimha who assured protection to the serpents
and stayed here to bless the devotees.
Architecture
The idol of Lord Karthikeya with a seven headed serpent is
made from a single stone. Lord Karthikeya is facing eastwards while the idol of
Lord Narasimha faces westwards. To ensure that both deities are visible to
devotees at the same time, a huge mirror was placed in the rear in the sanctum
sanctorum.
