Shree Shiv Mandir Trust, Kharghar
Shree Shiv Mandir Trust, Kharghar is a famous temple
situated in Navi Mumbai. The trust was formed on 07/12/2000. The Shree Shiv Mandir was built
in 1968. It was renovated in 2007. The main idol of the temple was found 10
feet down from the ground.

Legend
Shree Shiv Mandir is 350-400 years old. According to the
legends, the locals from village used to do puja of the Shiv Ling and they got
blessings. It is believed that people's wishes get fulfilled after doing the
puja here at this temple, especially for couples who don't have kids. It is the
only temple in Raigad district to have a Silver Shiv Ling.

The temple is built according to modern style of
architecture. The trust gives permission to use the temple premises for wedding
and any God-related functions.

The temple is crowded during the Shraavan month. Usually the
temple gets crowded on all Mondays as Monday is considered to be the favorite
day of Lord Shiva. During Maha Shivaratri, over 2 lakh people visit the temple
to offer their prayers.

Temple Rituals
Puja is conducted everyday at 6:00 AM and Maha Aarti at 7:00
PM.
Special Rituals
There is Satsang by Kalavati Aai on all Sundays from 7:30 PM
to 9:00 PM and on all Mondays from 3:00
PM to 5:00 PM.
On all Thursdays there is Satsang by Vaman Rao Pai in the
temple from 7:30 PM to 9:00 PM.
There is daily Hari Paath in the month of July for 11 days
during the Jagannath Rath Yatra celebrations from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM.
Every year the temple holds 4 days long Maha Shivratri
celebrations with Bhandara.
In the month of January, the local taxi drivers conduct 7
days Satsang in the temple. Other than that, the temple conducts 9 days long
Navratri celebrations every year and 1 day birthday celebration with Bhandara.
There is Granth Vachan on every Monday from 3:00 PM to 5:00
PM and Satsang on every day during the month of Shraavan.
In this temple, only females sing during the evening Aarti
on all Mondays and Fridays.
There is one day programme by Sabarimala devotees (Lord
Ayyappa's abode) in December with Bhandara.
The temple celebrates the Tulsi Vivah in Kartik month.
