Legend
The legend of Shirdi Sai Baba goes like this - One Day
Chandbhai, the chief of Dhoopkhede village of Aurangabad, Maharashtra lost his
horse in the middle of the wilderness. As he was searching for his horse, in
the dense forest he heard a voice from behind asking him what was he looking
for in the middle of the jungle. The village chief turned back to find a young
fakir. Then Chandbhai told him that he has lost his horse in the jungle. The
fakir asked him to go behind the cluster of trees to get the horse. Chandbhai
was awestruck to find his horse there because he had searched for the animal
before at that place but couldn't find it. Later on the fakir offered him a
smoke and for fire, he took out a burning coal from the ground with his tongs.
Chandbhai understood that he was not a simple fakir and that he is blessed with
divine powers. This fakir once visited Chandbhai's house on the day when his
wife's nephew was getting married. The event took place at Shirdi. This fakir
was Sai Baba who later on settled at this small yet enticing village and
started showing different miracles by saving people's lives or helping them out
from miseries and distresses
