Situated at East Fort, Pazhavangadi MahaGanapathy temple is one of the most famous temple in Thiruvananthapuram city. The temple is situated close to the Sri Padmanabhaswamy temple. Here, Lord Ganesha is seen in a seated posture with the right leg in a folded stance. Other than Lord Ganesha, the temple hosues the idols of Lord Dharmasasta, Goddess Durga and Nagaraja. Legend

According to the legends, the idol of Lord Ganesha was maintained by the The Nair Brigade of Travancore Kingdom. It was then kept at Padmanabhapuram, which was the capital of Travancore at that time. When the capital was shifted to Thiruvananthapuram, they installed the idol and the present temple was built at that place. At present, the temple is maintained by the Indian Army, after the integration of the Travancore army with the Indian Forces.
