Legend

There is a belief that the Neelmadhav idol consecrated at Puri was donated from the Jagannath Bari Mandir of Tripura.

Architecture

The Jagannath Bari Mandir, built by the Manikya King of Tripura Maharaj Radha Kishore Manikya, stands to be an architectural heritage that the state still boasts on. The architecture of the temple has influences of Islamic style of edifices. Though, the amalgamation of Arabic and Hemadpanthi in the exterior and the influences of Hindu architecture on the interiors have been perfectly balanced. The octagonal-base temple is orange in color and the pillars are crowned by the pyramidal cone structures. The 'pradhkshin patha' by the sanctum sanctorum deserves special mention.
