Legend
Sudama was from a poor family and a friend of Lord Krishna. Once, while going through troubled times, his wife asked him to seek the help of Lord Krishna. Though initially reluctant, he finally goes carrying some beaten rice flakes as a gift for his friend. Krishna is overjoyed to see his old friend and welcomes him warmly. In Krishna's presence, Sudama is overwhelmed and does not ask for any help. However on returning back home, he is surprised to find that the Lord has blessed him with abundant riches. The place where the temple is situated is regarded as the spot where Kuchelan or Sudma, came to meet his childhood friend Krishna. The temple is also believed to be where Krishna spent time with his wife Rukmini.
