Legend
The shrine temple has been constructed by the Birla group,
one of the leading names in manufacturing, constructions and various other
industries in India. The family has constructed temples during the past several
decades across the country. The temple is believed to be built at the spot
where Lord Krishna preached the principles of Gita to Arjun during the
Kurukshetra war. Another legend associated with the site of the temple is that
of Tutu bird, who was worried about the
eggs in her nest during the war. Her prayers were answered when an elephant's
neck bell fell over the nest and it
remained safe for 18 days of war.
Architecture
This temple is a very beautiful and elegantly constructed.
It has a tiered pyramid shikhara with a kalash on the top. The temple enshrines
the idol of Lord krishna. A beautiful garden surrounds the temple and where
there is a dazzling marble chariot. The chariot constructed in white marble, is
drawn with the 4 horses, with the warrior Arjun and Lord Krishna seated. The
model of 'Gaj Ghanta' based on the story
of Tutu bird can also be seen.
Culture
Kurukshetra also known as Dharmakshetra is considered a holy
place. The importance of the place is because of the Kurukshetra War of the
Mahabharata being fought on this land. It was here that Lord Krishna preached
the Bhagavad Gita to Arjuna. Kurukshetra banned the sale, possession and
consumption of meat within its limits due to the religious significance of the
place.
