Situated in Kolkata, Birla Mandir is a temple dedicated Lord Lakshminarayan. Birla Mandir, Kolkata was one of the dream projects of the Industrialist Family of Birla. The cornerstone was planted in 1970 and it took 26 years to complete the magnanimous superstructure of marble offered to the Gods. On 21st February, 1996 the temple was inaugurated and the ritual of Pran Pratishtha was ordained by Swami Chidanandaji Maharaj through the inaugural ceremony.

Architecture

The Birla Temple is one of the finest edifices built for the Gods. For 26 years the shrine was built under the surveillance of famous architect Nomi Bose. Built with complete white marble, the main sanctum sanatorium is around 160 feet in the middle. There are two more sanctums on the two sides of the main Radha and Krishna temple where Devi Durga and Lord Shiva are consecrated along with Hanuman ji.
