Legend
In the city of Kannauj, there lived a rich trader who was
childless. The trader went to the hills of Vindhychal to construct a temple of
Hanuman Ji to fulfil his wish of getting a son. The trader had constructed a
huge statue of Hanuman Ji out of stone. After visiting many holy places with the
statue, the trader ultimately arrived at Sangam Kshetra of Prayag. While taking
rest in the night, the trader dreamt that if he leaves this statue at this
holy place his all wishes will be fulfilled. Thus leaving the statue at Prayag
the rich trader left for his city Kannauj. As the time passed that rich trade's
wife gave birth to a son. The idol was struck inside the sands at the bottom of
the holy rivers. Years later, one day a saint named Balgiri, was piercing his
trident (Trishul) at places in order to find a place to sit for meditation, so
his trident stuck some hard stone and the idol was rediscovered. Many efforts
were made to move the idol from the place and erect the idol, but all efforts
just failed, so the temple was established at that very place.
This Temple is part of Maha Kumbh Mela.
