Amba Bhawani temple, Ambika Devi Temple
Amba Bhavani temple is one of the oldest shrine of Ambala city. In fact, the name of the city is believed to have derived from this shrine. It is is listed amongst the most sacred religious places in Haryana. The shrine is believed to be constructed by the Pandavas in the period during the Kurukshetra war. The temple was attacked many times by the Mughal rulers but was later reconstructed

Legend
It is believed that the temple was constructed during the
period of the Kurukshetra war by the Pandavas.
Architecture
The shrine is octagonal shaped with a dome shaped roof. The
dome is painted in red and gold, with a gold kalash on the top. The front face
of the octagon wall has the image of Goddess Durga and the adjoining two are
entrance to the shrine. The temple houses idols of Amba, Ambika and Ambalika.
Culture
Ambala lies near the border of Haryana with Punjab. Due to its geographical location, the Ambala
district plays an important role in North Indian tourism and is a popular
stopover for commuters for all neighbouring states. Ambala is famous for its
Cloth Market which has shops selling a wide variety of Hand-loom, silks, Sarees
etc
