Alampur Navabrahma Temples
Located at Alampur in Telangana, Alampur Navabrahma Temples
are a total of nine temples dedicated to Lord Shiva. The Navabrahma temples are
situated on the bank of the Tungabhadra River, all enclosed in a courtyard. The
temples dates back to the 7th century AD and were built by the Badami Chalukyas
rulers. The Navabrahma temples are :
Taraka Bhramma : The Taraka Bhrama temple is partly in ruins
and it has inscriptions from the from the 6th-7th century.
Swarga Bhrahma : The Swarga Brahma temple was built during
681-696 AD by Lokaditya Ela Arasa.
Padma Bhrahma : Padma Brahma temple houses a polished stone
sculpture of Shivalinga.
Bala Bhrahma : The bala Brahma temple works as the main
shrine and regular temple rituals are performed here.
Garuda Bhrahma : There are many elaborate carvings on the pillars
of the Garuda Brahma Temple.
Kumara Bhrahma : The porch of Kumara Brahma Temple is
ornamented with very intricate pillar carvings.
Arka Bhramma : The Arka Brahma Temple is completely in ruins
at present.
Vira Bhrahma
Vishwa Bhrahma : The Vishwa Brahma temple is one of the most
artistic temple.

Alampur Temple is known as Sangama Kshetram as this spot is
the confluence of the Tungabhadra and Krishna Rivers, and is therefore known as
Dakshin Kasi, or the 'Varnasi of the South'.These temples were constructed
during the reign of the Chalukyas.
Architecture
The temples are built according to the Northern and Western
Indian styles of architecture. The shikharas (spires) of the temples have a
curvilinear form and are adorned with miniature architectural devices. The
floor plans and ornamentations of the temples resemble those of some the rock
cut temples in Western India.
Culture
Referred as Dakshina Kashi as it is the confluence (sangam)
of the rivers Krishna and Thungabhadra, Alampur is a temple-town situated in
Mahbubnagar district. It is also known as Nava Brahmeshwara theertha. Alampur
is amidist Nallamalla hills and is on the left bank of river Thungabhadra. It
is the western gateway to Srisailam Temple. Alampur is a historical place
famous for its temples. Several dynasties ruled this place including
Satavahanas, Chalukyas, Kakatiyas, Bahamani sultans, Vijayanagara kings and finally
falling under Hyderabad.

temple rituals are performed here. Abhisheka is performed here daily.
