Yogananda Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy Temple, Vedadri
Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy temple is a famous temple dedicated to Yogananda Sri Narasimha Swami. The temple is located at Vedadri in Jaggaiahpeta in Krishna district of Andhra Pradesh. It is one of the Pancha Narasimhar Kshetrams in Andhra Pradesh.

Legend
According to the legends, when demon Somakasura stole the
Vedas from Lord Brahma, Lord Brahma approached Lord Vishnu to help him retrieve
it. Lord Vishnu took the form of Matsya and killed the demon and brought the
vedas back to Lord Brahma. The Vedas thanked Lord Vishnu and requested him to
stay at this place as Pancha Moorthy. As per the request, Lord Vishnu stayed at
this place as Lord Narasimha in five different forms namely Jwala Narasimha on
vedasikhara of the mountains, Saligrahma Narasimha in the River Krishnaveni,
Yogananda Narasimha sanctified by sage Rishya Sringar, Lakshmi Narasimhar and
Veera Narasimhar on Garudadri.
Architecture
The temple structure is conventional, being brightly colored
and ornamented with a variety of images. There is a beautiful image of
Narasimha Swami in yoga posture outside the temple premises. The Utsava Idols
are extraordinarily high and impressive. The temple has beautiful Raja Gopuram
with images of gods and goddesses carved on it. The lower portion of
Dwajasthambam is seen inside the mandapam.
Culture
The culture of Krishna districts is mostly traditional in
rural places and moderately modern in Vijayawada. It is also famous as the
birthplace for Indian classical dance named kuchipudi and the culture with the
dialect of Telugu spoken in Krishna is widely considered to be the standard
form of Telugu.
