Sri Vaithamanidhi Permual Temple is one of the Nava
Tirupathi., nine Hindu temples dedicated to Lord Vishnu located in
Tiruchendur-Tirunelveli route, Tamil Nadu, India in the southern bank of
Thamiraparani river.Thirukkolur is located at a distance of 4 km from
Alwarthirunagari.This is the eighth temple of Nava thirupathi and is for mars
(Sevvai). It is also called as Kuberasthalam.

Legend
According to the legends, Kubera once visited Lord Shiva and
Goddess Parvati. Lord Shiva cursed Kubera as he set evil glance on Parvati due
to which kubera lost his prominence. The Nava Nidhis (9 kinds of wealth ) left
Kubera and came to Lord Vishnu. Realizing his mistakes, Kubera went to
Thirukkolur to do his penance. Pleased with the penance of Kubera, Lord Vishnu
appeared in front of Kubera in a sleeping posture. Vishnu blessed Kubera with
his original position with the wealth. As Vishnu took care of the Nava Nidhis,
he is known as 'Vaithamaanidhi'. Sri Vaithamanidhi Permual is said to be
protecting the nine wealth in his right shoulder.
This temple is part of famous Nava Tirupathi Yatra.
Architecture
Sri Vaitha Manidhi Perumal temple is built in Dravidian
style of architecture. Vaithamanithi perumal is in recliming pose with the
wooden measurement tool (Marakkal) as his pillow to measure the wealth and
looking at the palm of his left hand to watch over location of the wealth.

Nava Tirupathi temples are headed by 'Lord Perumal' (Lord Vishnu'), hence there
are no separate Navagraha shrine present in these temples. The Nava Tirupathi
temples are classified as "Divya Desams", the 108 temples of Lord
Vishnu which are admired by the 12 Azhwars.

The temple is open from 7:30 AM till 12:00 PM and from 4:00
PM till 8:00 PM.
Darsan Dresscode
Male devotees have been advised to wear dhoti, shirt, pyjama
or pant and shirt while women and girls should wear saris or churidhar or
'pavadai' with half-sari. Devotees wearing lungi, bermudas, jeans and
tight-leggings would not be allowed.
