Located at Upamaka in Visakhapatnam of Andhra Pradesh, Sri Venkateswara Swamy Temple is a famous temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu. The temple was built by Sri Krishna Bhupaludu, king of Kandregula region of East Godavari district during the 6th century. A Raamasthoopam was installed on 4th May 1964 by Sri Thridandi Sreemannarayana Ramanuja Pedda Jiyar Swamy. It is one of the 108 Ramasthoopas in India.

Legend

According to the legends, Garuda requested Lord Krishna to rest him on his head forever. It is believed that the Lord settled on this Garuda Hills to fulfill mGaruda's request. A temple was later constructed by Sri Krishna Bhupaludu, the king of Kandregula region, in the East Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh around the 6th century AD.

Architecture

The Temple is situated at Garuda hill, which looks like the shape of Garuda. The main deity is seated on Horse along with His consort Goddess Lakshmi Devi facing North. The main mandapa flooring of the temple is made of black marble. A Raamasthoopam is installed on 4th May 1964.

Every day the temple allows Darshanam to all devotees from 6:00 AM to 12.30 PM and again from 4:00 PM to 7.30 PM.

Temple at Hill - 7.30 AM to 10.30 AM & 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM.

Pooja with astothram and sahasram be performed every day.

Special Rituals

"Tiruvaradhana and Panchamrutha Abishekam" to Moola Virattu Swamy seated on the hill be performed every day from 8:00 AM to 9:00 AM. In special occasions this Abhishekam will be performed at 4:00 AM.
