Sri Sivadevuni Chikkala Temple
Situated near Palakol, Andhra Pradesh, Sivadevuni Chikkala is a famous temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. The Shiva lingam in this temple was installed by Lord Hanuman. The temple was constructed by the King of Mogalturu a few hundred years back.

Legend
According to the legends, Lord Sri Rama asked Hanuman to
bring a Shiva lingam to perform pooja to Lord Shiva to get rid of the sin of
killing Ravana, a Brahmin. Hanuman went to Kasi and a selected a beautiful
Shiva lingam and kept that lingam in a chikkam (nest of threads) and starts
travelling back. During his journey, Hanuman stopped at this village to perform
his early morning pooja and kept the lingam there. When he returned after the
pooja, he was not able to lift the lingam. The Lingam got installed at this
place at the same muhurtham that Lord Rama was supposed to install the lingam.
As the Lord Siva was installed here along with the chikkam, this village is
called Sivadevuni chikkala.
Architecture
The temple has a three and a half feet tall lingam head with
the foot radius. The temple also houses the shrine of Goddess Parvati and
Lakshmi narayana temple.There is a huge beautiful lake behind this temple.
Culture
West Godavari is well known for its wool-pile carpets and
hand woven products. There are many landmarks and tourism destinations in the

Famous Festival
Maha Shivarathri, Laksha Bilvarchana during karthika masam,
Sivaratri radhotsavam, Laksha Kunkumarchana and Chandi Yagam are also
celebrated here every year.
Temple Rituals
Daily pooja and seva programs starts from morning 7:00 AM to
evening 8:30 PM. The seva programs are scheduled as per the temple calender.
