Sri Suryanarayana Swami Temple is a famous temple dedicated to God Son. The idol of Lord Sun faces the east and the rising sun from Bay of Bengal. It is believed that the pandava brothers stayed at this place during their exile.

Legend

According to the legends, once Duryodhana invited the Pandava brothers to participate in gambling. Pandava brothers lost the gambling and left their kingdom for 12 years and spend one year in exile. During their exile, they stayed some years in Peddapuram on a hill. The Pandava brothers arranged a tunnel way to Rajahmundry from this hill through which tunnel they used to have river bath. This hill was named after their name.

Architecture

The temple is constructed based on Dravidian style of architecture. One has to climb 108 step to reach Sri Suryanarayana Swami Temple. Sri Suryanarayana Swami Varu, the main deity or Archamurthy of the temple, faces the east and the rising sun from Bay of Bengal. Lord Sri Valli Sametha Sri Subramanyeswara Swamy temple is in the northwest side of the temple.

The temple lies is in the midst of verdant orchards with trees like mango, palm, tapioca and more.
