Sri Sigandur Chowdeshwari Temple
Chowdeshwari Temple is a famous temple dedicated to Goddess
Chowdeshwari, also known as Sigandureshwari and is located in Sigandur,
Karnataka. The temple dates back to over 300 years. Sigandur village is
surrounded by water from three sides and connected by road on one side and can
be reached via Kollur and Nagodi.

Legend
According to the legends, once upon a time a person named
Sheshappa went for hunting in jungles near Sigandur. While hunting, he lost his
way inside the jungle. After some time he became tired and sat under a tree to
rest and fell asleep. Goddess Sigandureshwari came into Sheshappa's dream and
asked him to build a temple for her. Sheshappa later told his experience to a
Brahmin named Duggajja in his village. They built a temple for Goddess
Sigandureshwari and Duggajja became the priest of the temple and Sheshappan
became the Managing Trustee.

days.
