Located at Gavarapalem, Sri Sri Nookambika Ammavari Temple or Sri Nookallamma Ammavaari Devasthanamu is a famous temple dedicated to goddess Nookambika. It is one of the nine Shakti forms and popularly known as Sri Anagha Devi in ancient days. The temple was built by Appalaraju for Kakatambika, a family goddess, who later came to be called as Nookambika or Nookalamma.

Legend

According to the legends, Appalaraju built this temple for his family Goddess Kakatambika and later came to be known as Nookambika or Nookalamma. On the auspicious “Kottha Amavasya”, it is said that thousands of people across the state arrive at the temple for offering prayers.

Architecture

The temple gopuram is sculpted with goddess idol at the entrance. The internal walls and temple flooring is made of hard rock stone. The idol of goddess is made of black marble.
