Sri Srinivasa Perumal Temple or Sri Mayakoothar Perumal Temple is one of the Nava Tirupathi, nine Hindu temples dedicated to Lord Vishnu located in Perungulam,Tiruchendur-Tirunelveli route, Tamil Nadu, India in the banks of Thamiraparani river. The Presiding deity is Lord Vishnu in the form of Srinivasa Perumal.

Legend

According to the legends, once an asura abducted Vedasaran's wife Kumudhavalli, who is a devotee of Lord Vishnu. Vishnu defeated the asura and danced on his head as Koothar. And Vishnu restored Kumudhavalli to her husband.

This temple is part of famous Nava Tirupathi Yatra.

Architecture

Sri Srinivasa Perumal Temple is constructed in Dravidian style of architecture. The temple has an image of Lord Vishnu facing east direction. The temple has two prakarams(closed precincts of a temple).

Culture

The Nava Tirupathitemples are classified as "Divya Desams", the 108 temples of Lord Vishnu which are admired by the 12 Azhwars.

The temple is open from 7:00 AM till 12:00 PM and from 5:00 PM till 8:00 PM

Darsan Dresscode

Male devotees have been advised to wear dhoti, shirt, pyjama or pant and shirt while women and girls should wear saris or churidhar or 'pavadai' with half-sari. Devotees wearing lungi, bermudas, jeans and tight-leggings would not be allowed.
