Situated near Visakhapatnam city of Andhra Pradesh, Sahasrakshi Meru Temple also called as Devipuram Temple is a famous temple dedicated to Goddess Sahasrakshi form of Goddess Parvati. The temple is built by Dr. N. Prahalada Sastry, a former university professor and nuclear physicist. Primarily belongs to the Shakta school of Hinduism, it acts as a hub for spiritual and rural empowerment workshops.

Legend

According to the legends, the temple is founded by Dr. N. Prahalada Sastry, a former university professor and nuclear physicist, who is also called as Sri Amritananda Natha Saraswati and very specifically called as spiritual guru. He had a successful 23-year career with the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research in Mumbai. He started the construction of the temple in the year 1985. The consecration of the temple was in the year 1994 and he describes that his establishment of the temple was specifically based on the vision of Goddess Sahasrakshi.

Architecture

The temple is built based on the South Indian style of architecture. There are three temples in the premises. This temple is built in a unique three-story structure based on the Sri Chakra that means a three-dimensional projection of the Hindu diagram. There are more than 100 life-sized murthis of different shaktis or yoginis based on Srividya cosmology in temple's sanctorum.
