Located in Ponnur, Andhra Pradesh, Ponnur Veera Anjaneya Swamy Temple is a famous temple dedicated to Lord Hanuman. The temple was built by Kota Jagannadha Swamy in 1969. The statues of Anjaneya Swamy and Garuda was installed by Kota Jagannadha Swamy. The temple houses a shrine for Garuda.

Architecture

The temple construction is based on Dravidian style of architecture. The main attraction of the temple is a single black stone carved statues of 24 feet height Veera Anjaneya Swamy and 29 feet long Garutmantha Swamy. There is a temple for Garuda within the temple complex which is of 30 ft tall, 15 ft wide and 6 ft thickness. Five Akhanda Deepas are present in five-storied building.

Culture

The culture of Guntur is very rich and lively. The city is famous for Telugu literature and a famous poet named Tikkana (1205�1288) was born in Guntur. He was an eminent poet and translated the Sanskrit epic Mahabharata to Telugu.
