O.T.C. Hanuman / Anjaneya Temple
Situated in the heart of Thiruvananthapuram, O.T.C. Hanuman
/ Anjaneya Temple is one of the most visted hanuman temples in Kerala. Apart
from Lord Hanuman, the other deities in the temple are Lord Siva, Lord
Ganapati, Naga devatas and Yogeeswaran.
Legend
According to the legends, the capital of Travancore was shifted from Padmanabhapuram to Thiruvananthapuram after the reign of King Marthanda Varma. Initially, the headquarters of the Nair Brigade was shifted from the old capital to the new. After that it was shifted to Kollam and later brought back to Thiruvananthapuram. Many of the deities worshipped by theNair soldiers were brought to Thiruvananthapuram. The cavalry of the Nair Brigade brought with them the Ganesha idols of Pazhavangady and Palayam temples, whereas, the cavalry soldiers brought the idol of Sri Hanuman to Thiruvananthapuram. Since the temple was originally located with the military camp, the temple is officially referred as O.T.C. (Officers Training Camp) Hanuman Temple.

The Hanuman Temple is open from 5 AM to 11 AM and from 5 PM to 8 PM. Four daily poojas are held - Usha Pooja at 5:30 AM, Ethirthru Pooja at 7:30, Ucha Pooja at 10: 45 AM and and Athazha Pooja at 7:30 PM. The Deeparadhana is held at 6:25 PM. Thursdays are special for the temple and hence experience heavy rush of devotees.
Special Rituals
Muzhukkappu is a special ritual at Hanuman Temple in Trivandrum where the idol is covered with sandal, but this is booked till the year 2026.
