Hatkeshwar Mahadev Temple, Raipur
Located 5 kms from Raipur on the banks of River Kharun, Chhattisgarh, Hatkeshwar Mahadev Temple is one of the most sacred pilgrimage destinations in central India dedicated to Lord Shiva worshipped as Lord Hatakeshwar. The temple was built by Hajiraj Naik during the rule of Brahmadeo Rai, son of King Ramachandra of Kalchuri dynasty in 1402.

Brahmadeo Rai, son of King Ramachandra of Kalchuri dynasty in 1402. Brahmadeo Rai's monumental script in Sanskrit
is still preserved at the Mahant Ghasidas Memorial Museum. Hatkeshwar Mahadev,
is the family deity of Nagar Brahmins, who were once a prominent community in
Vadnagar.
Architecture
The Shivalingam in Hatkeshwar Mahadev Temple is believed to
have self-emerged from the ground. The beautiful architecture along with the
exquisitely ornamented exteriors of the temple features various figures like
Nine Planets, Regent Deities, Ramayana and Mahabharata Scenes, various animals,
floral motifs, dancing apsaras and musicians.
