Aluru Kona Ranganathaswamy Temple
Built in 1334 AD by Yerramraju, who was a chieftain at Bukkraya court of Vijayanagara dynasty, Aluru Kona Ranganathaswamy Temple is a famous temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu. Here, Lord Vishnu is worshipped as Lord Ranganatha Swamy. Built on top the hills, the temple holds 51.48 acres of Land.

Legend
According to the legends, once Vishwamitra Maharishi was
conducting the yagnas. His yagna was disturbed by the demons named Tadaka and
Mareechan. Due to the hindrance of the demons, Vishwamitra was unable to do the
Yagna. Vishwamitra went to Ayodhya and asked the King Dasarathan to send his
sons along with him to forest to kill the demons. Lord Rama and Lakshman went
with Vishwamitra. They killed the demons. Later, a temple was built on the spot
by Yerramraju.
Architecture
The temple is built on top of the hills. There is an entry
arch on road and 50 steps that leads to the temple. The entrance leads to a
spacious place where a Dhwajastambham stands with a beli peetam or sacrificial
stone. There is yet another smaller Dhwajastambham in granite beyond that.
There is a natural spring next to the temple, where water flows between the
rocks for the whole year.
