Venugopala Swamy Temple is a famous temple situated at Bobbili town, Andhra Pradesh. The temple was built by the Kings of Bobbili. The temple was dedicated to Venugopala Swamy, the family deity of Bobbili Royal family. The present form of the temple was built by the King Chinna Ranga Rao of the Bobbili dynasty. The temple tower (Raja Gopuram) at the entrance was built in 1851 AD by Swetha Chalapati Ranga Rao amd the mandaps inside the temple was built by the King Krishna Das Ranga Rao in 1825 AD.
Legend
According to the legends, the temple was built by the Kings of Bobbili nearby the palace for their family deity, Venugopala Swamy. The idol was installed at Dola Yatra Mandapam, which lies on the banks of a lake and finally, it is carried back to the main temple.
Architecture
The Vasanth Mantap stands separately in the waters of Narayana Pushkarini (Temple Tank). It is the only temple in the region where the Gopuram is higher than the main temple. The base of the Gopuram is made of solid stone while the six stories over it are made of stone and brick masonry. The base of the Gopuram itself is approximately 9 meters high.

Temple Rituals
