Tiruthani Murugan temple is located in Thiruttani town in Tamilnadu, India.The primary deity Lord Murugan is worshipped as Thanigachalam. It is one of the Arupadaiveedu - 6 abodes or holy shrines of Lord Murugan. The temple is placed on atop Thiruthani Hill and there are 365 steps leading to the temple indicating 365 days of the year. This temple has been mentioned in the Sangam period work Tirumurugaatruppadai composed by Nakkeerar. It has been patronized by the Vijayanagar rulers and local chieftains and zamindars.
Legend
According to the legends, Arulmigu Subramanya Swamy Koil, Tiruttani represents the site where Subramanya stayed after destroying the demon Surapadman. Also Tiruttani is said to be the place where the Lord Subramanya married Valli - one of his two consorts.
This temple is part of famous Arupadai Veedu Yatra.
Architecture
Arulmigu Subramanya Swamy Koil, Tiruttani is built in Dravidian style of architecture. The beautiful temple of Lord Muruga at Tiruttani crowns a single rock 700 feet above sea level. It is situated amidst a range of hills with a dramatic panoramic view. The shrine of the procession deity is in a mandap made of 1 lakh Rudrakshas.

Temple Rituals
It is customary to enter the shrine after a holy dip in the sea followed by a ritual bath in Naazhi Kinaru. It.is a unique perennial fresh water fountain on the salty bed of the size of a naazhi (a small measuring container), believed to have been created by the Lord Himself with His Vel.
Special Rituals
Tonsuring, offering coins equal to one's weight (Tulabaram), carrying milk pots, and feeding the poor are the main prayer commitments followed by the devotees.
