Subramanya Swamy Temple, Mopidevi Temple

Located in the Krishna District, Andhra Pradesh, the Mopidevi Subramanya Swamy Temple is a famous temple dedicated to Lord Subramanyeswara Swamy. The temple is currently being managed by the Adusumilli Family. The principal deity, Lord Subramanyeswara Swamy, is also the chief god of the royal family Challapalli. The temple was built by Adusumilli Gangubhotlu, a land lord.
Legend
According to the legends, the Lingam in this temple is a self manifested (Swayambhu) one. It is believed that Lord Subramanya Swamy appeared in the dreams of Veerarapu Parvathalu, an ardent devotee. Parvathalu told about his dream to the villagers and dug up the anthill at the place indicated in his dream. Surprisingly, they found the Lingam which was placed on the anthill and they began to worship. Parvathalu made the idols of Nandi and Garutmanthudu which are very dear to Subramanya Swamy with clay.
Architecture
The idol of Lord Subramanya swami is made of black marble. The temple mandapa is sculpted with images of gods and goddesses. The Shiva lingam inside the temple is self-manifested one.
