Sri Shakteeswara Swamy Temple, Yenamaduru

Shakteeswara Swamy temple is a famous temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. The temple is situated at Yenamaduru, Bhimavaram Madalam, West Godavari district. In this temple, the idol is in Seershasana (upside down) along with Parvathi Devi in sitting posture with Subramanya Swamy in her lap as a 3 year old child on single stone.
Legend
According to the legends, the demon Shambasura after receiving the boon from Lord Lord Siva started troubling Sages and he can only be killed by Yama Dharma Raja. Sages approached Yama Dharma Raja and Yama Dharma Raja started battle with the demon. The battle went on for years and Yama lost the battle. To seek more power, Yama did penance for Lord Siva; however, as Lord Siva was in Sirsa Asana posture, Lord did not respond to his prayers. Knowing this Goddess Parvati gave Yama the additional powers with which he Killed the demon. On Yama's request, Lord Siva manifested here in Yoga posture with His Consort Parvati and son Subramanya. As Siva manifested here with Shakti, this temple was called by Shakteeswara.
Architecture
The idol in this temple is in the form of Sheershasana bangima alon with Sri Parvathi Devi sitting beside Lord Shiva with his 3 month old son Sri Subramanyeswara Swamy guarding his Husband. There is a pond in front of this Sri Shakteeswara Swamy temple. It is also said that an underground waterfront travels by this region from the Ganga River so this Temple is also called as Dhakshina Kasi.
