Legend

An idol of Sri Ranganathaswamy was brought by the entourage and installed at this place as there cannot be an interruption to the Jeeyar Swamy’s daily pooja rituals. After the departure of the Jeeyar Swamy, a temple was built for the idol. The place came to be known as Jeeyargudem and over the years the name got transformed into the present short form as Jiyaguda.
