Sri Kabbalamma Temple

Located in the Kabbal village, Ramanagara district, Karnataka, Sri Kabbalamma temple is a famous temple dedicated to Goddess Shakti. Here, Goddess Shakti is worshipped in the form of Goddess Kabbalamma. It is believed to be the only shrine for nearly 28 villages in the surrounding region.

Legend

According to the legends, once Goddess Kabbalamma was in search of a place to reside. She reached the village Kabbalu.  Goddess Kabbalamma took the permission of Basaveshwara and resided in the village. All the important first pujas are first performed to Basaveswara and then to Goddess Kabbalamma.

Architecture

The temple is built in Dravidian style of architecture. The temple is built on granite stones. There is a beautiful arch near the temple road. A high mandap is built with an obelisk tower on its top in front of this temple. There is a Gopura with five stories on the entrance. The entire temple surrounding is fenced with walls. There is a vast space in front of the temple to conduct festivals. The main deity is a beautiful stone sculpture. The deity has a separate covered mandapa. There is a Nandhi (Bull) statue in the temple in a seated position.
