Sri Chathurmukha Brahmalingeshwara Swamy Temple

Located at Guntur district of Andhra Pradesh, Chebrolu Chaturmukha Brahmalingeshwara Swamy Temple also known as Chebrolu Temple is one of the famous temple dedicated to Lord Shiva and Lord Brahma. Chebrolu Temple is one of the oldest temples in the state. It is one of the few unique temples of Lord Brahma in India with four faces. Here, the idol of Lord Brahma is embodied on the four sides of Shiva Lingam. Chebrolu Chaturmukha Brahmalingeshwara Swamy Temple was built approximately around 200 years ago by Raja Vasireddy Venkatadri Naidu.
Legend
According to the legends, Bhrugu Maharshi cursed Lord Brahma that he would not be worshipped on earth. That is the reason why a Shivalinga with carvings of Brahma on its four sides was consecrated at this temple, instead of a separate idols for him.
Architecture
Chaturmukha Brahmalingeshwara Swamy Temple is situated in the midst of a tank surrounded by two small temples of Lord Shiva towards the east and west and that of Vishnu in the north and south and four temples of Goddess Shakti in the four corners manifested in different incarnations. There is a small bridge across the waters on the temple tank to reach the Chathurmukha Brahmalingeshwara Swamy temple. The main attraction of this temple is Lord Brahma embodied on the four sides of Shiva Lingam. There is a sub-shrine in the temple for Lord Nataraja. The idol measures 12 feet. The stone sculpture of Nandi is also situated in front of the Idol.
