Culture

Vishakhapatnam’s various ruling dynasties had a significant influence on the state's cultural tapestry. The beaches are filled with stalls selling chaats and its fast food joints are not to be skipped. One can savour multi-cuisine delicacies typical to Andhra Pradesh in most of the restaurants. The festivals include Visakha Utsav, one of the popular annual festivals along with Chandanotsavam, Lumbini festival and ISKCON Utsav which is usually held during Dussehra and goes on for three days. Rishikonda Beach Festival and Visakhapatnam Music Festival showcase Andhra’s culture but a good dose of modernity is added to the mix. The hill tribes of Visakhapatnam perform the Dhimsa dance by playing their musical instruments and wearing their traditional costumes.
