Siddhivinayak Temple

Located in Mumbai, Maharashtra, Shree Siddhivinayak Ganapati Mandir is a famous temple dedicated to Lord Ganesha. The temple was built by Laxman Vithu and Deubai Patil on November 19, 1801. It is one of the famous and richest temples in Mumbai.

Legend

According to the legends, around 125 years ago, Ramakrishna Jambhekar Maharaj buried two divine idols in the front of the presiding deity of the temple on the orders on his guru, Shri Akkalkot Swami Samarth. After
21 years after the burial of the icons, as prophesied by Swami Samarth, a mandar tree grew at that spot with a svayambhu Ganesha in its branches. The temple was built by Laxman Vithu Patil and was funded by a rich Agri woman named Deubai Patil. Childless, Deaubai built the temple so that the Lord should grant children to other barren women.

Architecture

The architect Ar. Shri. Sharad Athale of SK Athale & Associates made an extensive survey of temples in Rajasthan and Tamil Nadu and came to conclusion that the Shiva Temple at Ambernath would be the ideal role model for this new temple. Today, the Siddhivinayak temple has undergone a complete architectural transformation, Keeping the idol intact, the temple has been built into unique multiangular, six storeyed structure, that reaches to the skies surmounted with a main central gold plated dome. The other small crowns that surround it are made of gold's and panchadhatu (five metals). There are 3 main entrances. The temples renovation commenced in 1990. Today's structure is a fine architectural design, made of marble and pink granite. The temple is of 6 Floors and hosts modern amenities like elevators. The summit is gold plated and is made of a cluster of 47 Crowns.

Temple time :- 6:00 AM to 12:00 PM & 12:35 PM to 8:00 PM
Online darshan could be booked (Foreigners & NRIs) on the temple website.
Temple is closed for Bhog from 12:00 PM-12:35 PM and for Aarti from 7:00 PM-8:15 PM on all days.
Long queues on Holidays, Saturdays, and Sundays.
Carry drinking water as climate tends to get very humid.

Even the dresscode is not strict at the temple. People flock the temple wearing both tradional and western attire to ask Lord Ganesha to fulfil their special wishes.
