Shri Baba Dham Sidhapeeth

Baba dham is one of the prominent religious sites of Sonipat. It was believed to be a Shiva temple in older times, though now consists of a cluster of smaller shrines like  Shani Mandir, Sai Mander, Radha Kirshan Mandir and more. The temple in present form was constructed around a decade ago. Baba dham goes beyond a religious site to a place where the residents of Sonipat gather for a peaceful evening.

Legend

The site of the temple is believed to have been sacred because of the existence of a Shivlinga and a small temple around it. That small shrine was restored into the Baba dham it is today, a beautiful structure with a cluster of shrines for Hindu deities.

Architecture

Baba Dham is beautiful in its construction, exuding serenity and charm. It consists of cluster of shrines with well rounded pillars, pyramid domes and marble floors. The walls and arches have intricately carved designs. The shrines houses idols of various Hindu Gods and Goddesses. There are two large statues of Shiva and Hanumana inside the temple premises.

Culture

Sonipat has been referenced in epic Mahabharatha, as one of the five villages  demanded by Yudhishthira from Duryodhana as a peace offering. The place has several Mughal buildings. It is famous for its many dhabhas

Temple Rituals

The priests perform regular puja and rituals to the deities. Morning, noon, evening and night aartis and abhisheka are performed.

Special Rituals

Reading of Shri Sai Satcharitra is conducted at the Sai Mandir. Various bhajans and kirtans are also conducted in the temple
