Prasanna Venkateswara Temple

Situated at Appalayagunta Village, 70 km away from Chittoor Town in Andhra Pradesh, Sri Prasanna Venkateswara Swamy Temple is an ancient temple dedicated to Sri Prasanna Venkateswara Swamy, a form of Lord Vishnu. The temple was constructed by the King of Karvetinagaram, Sri Venkata Perumalaraju Brahmadeva Maharaj in the year 1232 AD. The temple was taken over by TTD in the year 1988 and all the rituals are as per the tenets of Vaikhanasa Agama. The temple also houses the shrines of Lord Vayu, Lord Anjaneya Swamy, Goddess Padmavathi and Smt Andal Devi.
Legend
According to the legends, it is believed that on the occasion of his marriage with Sri Padmavathi Ammavaru, Lord Sri Venkateswara has bestowed blessings on Sri Siddeshwara and other sages at this place. Lord Venkateswara rested at this place during his journey to Tirumala.
Architecture
The temple is constructed based on Dravidian type of architecture.The temple mandapam and the walls of the temple are built on sandle stone. There are sculptors of different hindu gods and goddesses on the internal mandpam walls of the temple.The temple houses the shrines of Sri Andal, Goddess Padmavathi, and Anjaneyaswami besides the main temple.
