Papnash Shiva Temple

Papnash Temple is a Shiva Temple situated in Bidar district, Karnataka. It is believed that the idol of the temple was installed by Lord Rama on his way back to Ayodhya. The original temple was lost and a new temple was built at the ruins of the ancient temple.
Legend
According to the legends, Lord Rama installed the temple and idol here at this place on his way back to Ayodhya from Lanka.
Architecture
The original temple was lost and at the ruins a new temple was built. This temple is located in a beautiful valley. There is a large pond at the foot of the temple which is constantly fed by a natural spring. This pond is known as Papnash. The sanctum sanctorum enshrines a big Shiva Linga and there are three Shiva Lingas in the temple complex.

Devotees can touch and can directly offer pujas to the three Shiva Lingas in the temple complex.It is believed that a visit to this temple and a dip in the Papnash pond will destroy all the sins committed by a person.
