Dedicated to Lord Shiva, Nili Chhatri Temple (Neeli Chhatri) is an ancient Hindu temple located in New Delhi. It is believed that the eldest Pandava brother, Yudhishthira established this temple and the Nigambodh Ghat adjacent to it and conducted Aswamedha yajna from here. Therefore, this temple is called Pandavan age temple.

Legend

According to the legends, Nili Chhatri Temple was built by Pandavas, under the special guidance of Yudhishthira. It is believed that Yudhishthira conducted Aswamedha yajna from here.

According to the excerpt from "The Archeology and Monumental Remains of Delhi" by Carr Stephen (in 1876) unveils that Nili Chhatri was a tomb built in 1565 for providing abode to demised remains of Naubat Khan, a state official (mansabdar) during the reign of the great Mughal emperor Akbar.
