Maa Bhramari Devi Temple-Trisrota

Bhramari Devi Temple is located by the banks of the Tista River, this is one of the reasons why it is also known as Tristrota Shakti Peeth. Here the Devi is accompanied by Her Bhairava known as Lord Ishwara.Devi Bhramri is also one of the manifestations of Devi Adi Shakti- the Goddess of Power and Strength.The exact date of the temple's creation is still unknown as this is a Shakti Peeth that had been formed centuries back. It is believed that the Vama Pada or the left leg of Sati or Shakti fell at this place to form the Mata Bhramri Devi Temple.

Legend

According the Purana, once Arun Asura conquered the Heavens (swarglok) and evacuated all Gods from their lavish abode. The repulsive Asura tried to conquer on the wives of the Gods too. Then the Goddess prayed to Goddess Parmeshwari who then transformed Herself into a large bee and along with a swarm of bees attacked the demon. The bees torn up the chest of the Asura and killed him. From then onwards the divine mother is also known as 'Bhramari Devi or Bumblebee'- as a savior and protector of mankind.

This temple is part of the famous Shaktipeetha Darshan Yatra of West Bengal.

Architecture

The temple is a one storied, red colored structure enshrining the idol of Devi Bhramri and Lord Ishwara.

Darsan Info

It is asked to bathe and wear fresh clothes before entering the temple to offer puja. Those who are intending to attend the aarti must not eat in the morning. The same rule applies for the devotees attending the Nitya or special puja inside the temple premise.

Darsan Dresscode

Pilgrims should be in modest clothing as a mark of respect to the Goddess. But no dresscode is officialy maintained.

Temple Rituals

This shrine is considered to be central heart chakra of Devi Bhramri, possessing in 12 petals. This works as the guard or antibodies to the humans to heal from any kind of disease. The chakra is the reason for the Kundalini Sadhana observed here. As per the ancient scriptures, Bhramari Devi- the manifestation fo Devi Durga exists in the Chaakra to protect the people from any kind of external attack by the viruses or bacteria.

Special Rituals

During the Navaratri festival in the month of Ashvijya special puja is arranged along with the grand celebration in this temple.
Over the years, Kumbham, a local festival is also celebrated with special puja and yajna in the month of Chaitra (April) every year.
