Lakshmi Narayan Temple, Birla Mandir

The Laksmi Narayanan temple in Bhopal is also referred to as the Birla Mandir. Built by the Birla family, the shrine is dedicated to Goddess Lakshmi and Lord Vishnu. There is also a museum near Lakshmi Narayan temple, which contains a huge collections of carvings and wonderful sculptures.
Legend
Laksmi Nrayan temple has been constructed by the Birla group, one of the leading names in manufacturing, constructions and various other industries in India. The popular story is that the family believes that if they stop the construction of temples, it will bring bad fate. Hence, the family has continued to construct temples during the past several decades across the country.
Architecture
The Laxmi Narayan Temple enshrines the idols of Goddess Laxmi and Vishnu along with idols of Shiva with Parvati. The temple is sandy yellow in colour and there is a beautifully carved archway at the entrance. The entire complex which also houses a museum is surrounded by lush green lawns and fountains.
