Dwarakadhish Temple , Kankroli

On the banks of Rajasamand lake in the small village of Kankroli is the temple of Dwarakadish dedicted to Lord Krishna. Revered by Vaishnavaites and Vallabhacharya sect, it is believed that the idol here was brought from Mathura, in 1671 A.D., during the rule of Maharana Raj Singh. The idol was placed in the present temple, which was constructed at the time of the inaugural ceremony of the Rajsamand Lake in 1676 A.D.

Legend

Legend has that the idol was brought from Mathura, where Lord Krishna is believed to have born, to protect it from the invasion of Mughals.

Architecture

The temple is built in haveli style of architecture. White marble building with arch windows form the temple construction. The walls are adorned with vibrant and artistic paintings. The sanctum sanctorum houses the red stone idol of Lord Krishna. In the complex of the Temple, there is a small garden and a library that possesses a huge compilation of old books.

Temple opens at 7AM, 8AM, 9AM, 10.30AM, 4.15PM, 5PM and 6PM for about half an hour each time.
