Built by one of the leading business families in India, the Birla Mandir, is a poplar pilgrimage centre in the holy land of Kurukshetra. This temple was constructed in the year of 1952 by the late Jugal Birla. Carved elegantly in marble, the temple is believed to be standing at the location where Lord Krishna preached Bhagvad Gita to Arjun
Legend
The shrine temple has been constructed by the Birla group, one of the leading names in manufacturing, constructions and various other industries in India. The family has constructed temples during the past several decades across the country. The temple is believed to be built at the spot where Lord Krishna preached the principles of Gita to Arjun during the Kurukshetra war. Another legend associated with the site of the temple is that of Tutu bird, who was worried about the eggs in her nest during the war. Her prayers were answered when an elephant's neck bell fell over the nest and it remained safe for 18 days of war.
Architecture
This temple is a very beautiful and elegantly constructed. It has a tiered pyramid shikhara with a kalash on the top. The temple enshrines the idol of Lord krishna. A beautiful garden surrounds the temple and where there is a dazzling marble chariot. The chariot constructed in white marble, is drawn with the 4 horses, with the warrior Arjun and Lord Krishna seated. The model of 'Gaj Ghanta' based on the story of Tutu bird can also be seen.

Culture
Kurukshetra also known as Dharmakshetra is considered a holy place. The importance of the place is because of the Kurukshetra War of the Mahabharata being fought on this land. It was here that Lord Krishna preached the Bhagavad Gita to Arjuna. Kurukshetra banned the sale, possession and consumption of meat within its limits due to the religious significance of the place.
