Bhuvaneswari Temple Udaipur

Situated on the bank of Gomati at Udaipur, Bhuvaneswari Temple is one of the ancient temples in Tripura. The temple was built by Maharaja Govinda Manikya during the 17th century. The temple is dedicated to Goddess Bhuvaneswari. Rabindranath Tagore immortalized the Bhuvaneswari temple of Tripura in two of his major plays 'Rajarshi' and 'Bisharjan'.

Architecture

The flagship Bengal four-chaala temple design is followed while designing and building the temple of Bhuvaneswari in Udaipur. The edifice is rested upon a paved terrace of 3 feet high from the ground. The floral motifs on the core chamber inside the quintessential hut shaped Bengal style of architecture aesthetically attracts pilgrims.
