BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir

Situated on the banks of the river Daman Ganga in Silvassa, BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir is a famous temple dedicated to Bhagvan Swaminarayan. The Swaminarayan Mandir is a replica to the "Swami Narayan Akshardham" in Gandhinagar. The temple is constructed of light pink stone.

Legend

The mandir is a tribute to Bhagwan Swaminarayan (1781- 1830), the avatars, devas and great sages of Hinduism. The legacy of Bhagwan Swaminarayan’s selfless service to all has been continued by the BAPS gurus.

Architecture

Built from pink stone, the temple is intricately carved surrounded by green lawns. No structural steel or cement was used in building the temple. The temple has many artistically decorated domes which have large carved flowers, whose petals spread in the form of chandeliers. The idol of Bhagwan is dressed like an emperor, with a blue sherwani coat and a grand turban along with dazzling jewellery.
