Avukulam Sree Darmasastha Temple

The temple having a history of 2500 years is a very famous Lord Ayyappa temple in Trivandrum. The temple is being reconstructed into this existing form under the guidance of temple trust and with suggestions from local people and devotees.

Legend

Almost 2500 years ago a saint visited this place and found significant presence of Heavenly power and he settled here. He then installed an idol and started offering prayers in a specific yogic posture. As time passed he gave the ownership of the temple and its rights to offer the prayers to two Brahmin families and he left for heavenly adobe.

the Brahmin family installed Sree Dharma Sastha Idol and offered prayers in due course of time the in fight between the families worsened resulting in destruction of wealth and its property except the temple surroundings and Idol.

The existing temple and its premise is know to be here since 1976.

The renovated temple premise is built in usage of modern techniques of traditional Kerala style Architecture.
